eCatalog Redesign UX/UI: IT Service Catalog
Awarded 2012 Lockheed Martin Celebration of Excellence Award for Hybrid Cloud and IT Services Catalog
The ITSM eCatalog product owner wanted an eye-catching interface that made finding, requesting, and managing IT services easy. The goal was to provide a visual design and user experience to attract potential customers to leverage this solution to implement their own organizational ITSM eCatalog solution.
Understand and Design
After my initial heuristic evaluation of the website, I identified a list of navigation and work flow issues. The product owner understood the need for a second version of the solution design. I was tasked by the product owner to develop options for a redesign.
Prototyping and Testing
I used a prototyping tool and a graphics editing tool to develop a concept that was eye-catching and provided a contrast in style by comparison to the previous web home page. The intent for the website redesign was primarily concept-based for enticing programs to adopt the technology platform to deploy in their IT service operations. The goal was to show that the user interface can be customized.
Some of the key self-service features for the solution include:
- Creating and managing virtual machines in the cloud
- Acquiring and managing mobile devices including tracking and wiping lost devices
- Adding enterprise applications to my mobile device
Winning Program Work
Our ITSM eCatalog solution was selected as the solution for a project with a DoD program. I changed the style and updated the service offerings to reflect the needs of the client and their end users.
